The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department and the Team members within the department.

In this exciting role, you will participate in the following:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and manages the Purchasing Team, and other staff as needed.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Global Strategic Sourcing with respect to Vendor development, Negotiation and finalize the awards with suppliers. Providing cost savings / Value addition to the Business Unit organization
  • Providing market trends, intelligence reports re: conditions, cost to the management with frequent interval
  • Providing support to Commercial and Creative teams for day-to-day requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and manage internal cross functional relationships across Commercial, Creative, Applications, Operations, Regulatory, Finance, Legal and Quality departments.
  • Maintaining external relationships with suppliers / potential supply partners for seamless and efficient execution of purchasing strategies.
  • Data maintenance and integrity – Purchasing system Dynamics GP, supplier contact info, commercial costing, safety stock, pack sizes, efficient order quantities
  • Accountability for Budget and Forecast cost of raw materials yearly and quarterly (not yet implemented)
  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
  • Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
  • Acts as the company’s representative in negotiations with suppliers.
  • Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your professional profile includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Business, Economics, Supply Chain or any other relevant discipline from a reputable institute is required.
  • Experience (years and topics):
    • 10+ years’ procurement or related field experience required.
    • Relevant Direct Materials Procurement expertise from Flavors and Fragrances, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Chemicals or Pharmaceutical industry.
    • Capable and comfortable quickly changing direction and readjusting focus and drive, as business needs change.
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and tasks regularly
    • Exceptional people/team and strong collaboration skills
    • Strong organizational and planning skills
    • Understanding of scheduling, lead times
    • Ability to work extremely well under pressure and changing dynamics
    • Deadline oriented
    • Working knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures, manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes
    • Strong evaluation skills for supplier bids in accordance with, and establishing criteria such as specification, price, service and delivery.
    • Familiarity of database structure
    • Self-starter, highly self-motivated, structured and disciplined
    • Ability and willingness to work in an office environment
  • Technology/Software (years):
    • Must be PC literate and literate in Excel, Word and Power point, etc.
    • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Cognitive (Reasoning):
    • Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, visual, or schedule form.
  • Communication:
    • Vocalize and explain detailed data and problem-solve, both in-person and by telephone Must have good communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Compose routine correspondence on own initiative
    • Make comprehensive notes in English
    • May involve a large volume of such composition.
    • Must have ability to work well under pressure
