POP CULTURE: THE SODA SURGE

Coca-Cola recently reported 2024 Q3 revenue exceeded expectations due to a 10% increase in its pricing and product mix strategies, further bolstered by an 11% rise in Coca-Cola Zero sales globally. This is in part attributed to the “dirty soda” TikTok trend, mixing soda with syrups and creams, especially led by Mormon influencers.

TikTok has seen a surge in soda-focused content, making these brands increasingly popular among Gen Z and Millennials. Dua Lipa’s viral Diet Coke recipe with pickle juice and jalapeño sauce sparked massive TikTok engagement (10 million views and counting).

Additionally, Dr. Pepper boosted sales with new flavors like “Creamy Coconut” and a rebranded 7Up, while also growing in popularity through strategic marketing during college football games.

In fashion, celebrity stylist Law Roach recently partnered with Pepsi Wild Cherry to launch a new capsule collection inspired by the soda brand’s bold colors and vintage style. The growing soda trend has also inspired the release of soda pop-themed fragrances, tapping into the vibrant and nostalgic appeal of these iconic drinks.
